Nexus 10 2nd Generation Gearing Up For Release?
« on: July 25, 2013, 02:43:00 PM »

So you thought all the news yesterday was just about the new Nexus 7?  Well you'd be mistaken.  It seems that Google's Sundar Pichai, head of Android and Chrome let slip to journalists that the company was actually working to a follow up to our favorite 10 inch tablet and that it would once again be teaming up with Samsung to do so.  The tip comes from the Wall Street Journal's Amir Efrati who tweeted last night:

Quote
“Expect to see new 10-inch Nexus 10 Android tablet (made by Samsung) in the near future, Google’s Sundar Pichai tells me.”

Now of course the Nexus 10 came out roughly 3 months after the Nexus 7 last year so it would make sense if we saw a new Nexus 10 this fall.  As far as specs we could purely speculate but would think we'd see a bump to a quad core processor...possibly the Snapdragon 800, a more powerful GPU and perhaps an increase from the current 2GB of ram.  We might also see souped up cameras.  The one thing we don't see changing much is the resolution of the screen.  Already an industry leading 2560 x 1600, we don't think an increase is likely until perhaps 4k displays are cost effective at this size...which could take some time.  We will probably see a slimmer and lighter Nexus 10.  What are your thoughts? What do you think Google and Samsung would do to upgrade the Nexus 10?

As a 10 owner, I  cannot think of anything else, other than maybe an sdcard port, but Google doesn't like those.  My 10 is already super fast and like you said, the resolution is superb.  Better battery life I think is my main concern, it's already ok, but more is "more betta" ;)

I don't own a Nexus 10 but I really want one.

I'm not sure if I should buy the one that was released last year or if I should wait for the new one.
And do you think that this years Android 4.3 will be upgradable to Android 5.0 ?

What would you do?

This tablet and Android world is a bit confusing.
I own a Samsung Galaxy SII and was outdated pretty fast and I didn't even get an update from Android 4.04 ugh. So I am trying to be a bit careful on buying the Nexus 10

As for a Nexus device they get updates first, so they stay current. Obviously as they become outdated by several new models, the updates could be later.
The 10 is far from outdated, it's still top in its class.
