Nexus 10 Magnetic Pogo Charger Makes Sneak Reveal
« on: December 08, 2012, 12:26:05 PM »

**UPDATE:  The source of the above and below photos now says he works for the OEM that makes the Pogo charger and that it will be available soon through Amazon and Ebay for a price between $19.99 and $24.99.   It's still unclear as to if this is a 3rd party or official Samsung/Google item**

From the very beginning of the introduction of the Nexus 10 we've been teased by precious little being said about the magnetic pogo pin connector located on the tablet.   There's of course been speculation that we'd see a future dock of some sort that would take advantage of this connector and in one conversation with a Google rep we've even been promised we'd see a magnetic pogo pin charger at some point.

Well it seems a mysterious member of AndroidCentral has posted shots on their forum site that have gone relatively unnoticed showing just such a charger.   You can clearly see in the picture above two magnets and several pins that seem to fit perfectly with the correlating pins on the Nexus 10 minus one empty space that perhaps would be used with a dock but not a charger.  While the user wouldn't say where he bought the connector a quick search of the product numbers of the AC wall charging section shows at least that part has been designed for the Galaxy Tab 10.1.   The poster of the pictures won't disclose where he got the connector but he did say it seemed to charge the Nexus 10 about twice as fast as the traditional usb charging cable.

There's still some confusion as to whether this is an off the shelf item, another device's charger that simply works with the Nexus 10, a beta version gotten from either Samsung, Google or perhaps a foreign or 3rd party source.   But our bet is that  it's likely that this is some kind of pre-production model and that we'll see a finished one for sale in stores or the Google Play Store soon.  So what do you think?   Would you buy a magnetic pogo pin charger if available and at what price?
