Tapatalk for phone use with forums and has since transitioned to tablet use. Tapatalk provides the functionality you need for reading and posting to forums, but is not as full featured as the browser interface.

Nexus 10 Apps / Re: Battery Watcher widget?
« on: January 04, 2014, 08:41:31 PM »
Starting with a Palm Pilot, I have transitioned through analog and digital cell technology, a Palm phone, BlackBerry, and arrived at Android. Currently with an S3, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10, Rooted 100%, I have found apps that work equally well on the phone platform and the tablet platform and those that don't and apps that I personally do not like. My point is that I have found that filtering through the fluff requires the process that you have started, ask for input, search, analyze, and make your choice.

Nexus 10 Help / Re: Email contacts
« on: January 04, 2014, 09:13:11 AM »
Assuming that you want them stored in contacts and not in Gmail, open Live Mail on your computer and export your contacts to a folder in vcf format. This will create one vcf file for each contact. Move the vcf files to your Nexus, by Dropbox or Windows file transfer using a USB cable. Then open People on your Nexus and import the vcf files. Remember that the contracts will not be continuously sync'ed. Continuous sync requires 3rd party software or a change to Gmail.

Nexus 10 Help / Re: USB and playing videos files strange problem
« on: December 07, 2013, 06:44:42 AM »
Are you using an OTG cable or the supplied USB cable that comes with the Nexus 10? I have no problem playing audio or video from USB devices, but since I am rooted, I use StickMount instead of media importer.

Nexus 10 Help / Re: Speaker volume too weak

You could also look at a Google Chromecast, for $35 you can watch videos from your tablet on your TV,  if you have WiFi. I can play Netflix and local video stored on my tablet using the Chromecast.

Nexus 10 Help / Re: Cracked screen replacement help
« on: December 03, 2013, 03:49:07 AM »
You will have to replace the screen and digitizer. I would bet that they will be available once the 2nd generation Nexus 10 is released. I have also seen them for the Nexus 7 but not for the 10 yet.

Julie, tablets notoriously have weak speakers and are best used with a decent set of headphones. Another option is a good bluetooth external speaker. I have recently purchased a bluetooth speaker and will post the results when it arrives. As for volume control apps, I have never seen one that is an effective solution, so don't worry about the ads on the free ones and save your money on the no ad version.

Nexus 10 Polls / Re: Will a 2nd generation Nexus 10 be released this year?
« on: November 30, 2013, 02:49:59 AM »
I would have to agree with Efin, my Nexus 10 has plenty of mileage left. I jumped at the Nexus 7 2013 with it's $269 price tag but I  would not find it that easy to pull the trigger on device with a $500 price tag.

I used the Unified Toolkit and it loaded a temporary stock recovery and flashed the OTA, so I did not have to flash TWRP again. I did lose root, but simply selected option 4 in the toolkit and restored root.
